Meetings are held every two months at the Rolls-Royce Club Rooms in

Osmaston Road, Derby.  All Suez Veterans, and guests, are welcome to join us.  Doors open approx 11.30 for a 13.00 start.

Reasonably priced food and drinks are available before the meetings.

 

 

In the afternoon of Tuesday 8th April 40 members, including some wives, attended the Annual General Meeting of the Derby and District Branch of the SVA.

 

Jack Raine, who is the SVA North West Area Representative, became our Chairman when the Branch was formed but as he lives quite a distance from Derby it always meant a lot of travel for him to attend meetings and took a big part out of his day.  Because of this, and because the Branch is now running smoothly, he volunteered to stand down as Chairman if a local member was prepared to take his place. The meeting discussed this and member David Barlow was nominated, all were in favour, so David is now our new Chairman.  In appreciation of what Jack had done to start the Branch and guide us along, it was proposed that he be made Hon President and all were in favour.  With no other nominations the remainder of the Committee were elected en bloc.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th June and we have a coffee morning arranged for Friday 4th July, this will take place in the Mayors Reception Room at the Council House, Derby.

 

Other meetings will be on Tuesday 12th August and Tuesday 14th October.

December’s meeting will be the Christmas Lunch – date to be arranged.

We hope to organise another trip to Eden Camp in September and arrangements are under way to run a coach to London for the weekend of the Remembrance Parade in November.

 

Members will be notified of any additional meetings or events that may yet be arranged.
